AlliHat. Claude in Safari.
I have a bad habit. Pasta. Not that kind. Copypasta. 🤪
Whenever I’m reading something online (an article, a GitHub issue, a dense doc), I end up copying chunks of text, opening a new tab, pasting it into Claude, and asking my question. Then I go back to the original tab. Then I need something else about this article or website. Go back again to Claude. On and on.
It’s a terrible way to work. But I kept doing it anyway because the alternative didn’t exist. Yes, there’s an extension for Chrome. But us Safari users? Nada.
So I built it.
It’s called AlliHat. It’s a Safari extension that puts Claude right in a sidebar next to whatever page you’re on.

Open it, and it already sees what you’re reading. Ask it anything: summarize this, explain that, what sources is this blocked article talking about. Without leaving the page. No copypasta.
Even writing this, it was handy to pop open AlliHat to emoji up my Copypasta joke. (That was all mine by the way!)
There’s also an agent mode. Tell it what to do and it does stuff: clicking buttons, filling forms, navigating around. Obviously we have to be careful with this, but it’s useful when I have something tedious to do on a website.
A few things I was really deliberate about:
It remembers your conversations. Close Safari, come back the next day, dive right back into the conversation at the URL you were having it at. So your research lives next to websites. Not inside another tool.
You can save workflows. If you do the same thing over and over (same summary format, same data pull), set it up once, run it with one click.
And it doesn’t touch your data. Your API key lives in Safari’s local storage. Pages go straight to Anthropic’s API. No servers of mine in the middle, no analytics inside the app.
Setup is quick. Download it, enable it in Safari, paste your key, and you’re in.
It’s $29 a year with a 7-day free trial. Requires macOS 15+ and Safari 18+.
If you want to try it, start your free trial at allihat.com.
